Mr Bennet's Dutiful Daughter by Joana Starnes Cover Reveal and Giveaway

Cover Reveal: Mr Bennet's Dutiful Daughter by Joana Starnes
Today I am joining with some of my favourite bloggers to reveal the cover of Joana Starnes' latest book, 'Mr Bennet's Dutiful Daughter'. You might wonder from that title which of Mr Bennet's daughters has deserved that monicker and why. Read on to see the cover and find out more about it, read the book description and to see the wonderful giveaway that Joana is offering to celebrate the launch of this book!

Book Cover: Mr Bennet's Dutiful Daughter by Joana Starnes
Here's the cover! Isn't it lovely! The portrait used on Joana’s new book is titled 'Portrait of Miss Frances Vinicombe' by John Opie. It dates from the late 1700s, and the original is in St Petersburg. John Opie was a British landscape and portrait artist, who painted quite a few famous people, including the author, Mary Wollstonecraft. Some of his works are also displayed as part of the Chawton House Library’s collection.

So, let's learn some more about the book. Here's the book description:

When Colonel Fitzwilliam’s disclosures are interrupted by the bearer of distressing news from Longbourn, Miss Elizabeth Bennet is compelled to consider an offer she would have otherwise dismissed out of hand. An offer of marriage from the all-too-proud Mr Darcy.

Yet how is she to live with a husband she hardly knows and does not love? Would she be trapped in a marriage of convenience while events conspire to divide them? Or would love grow as, day by day and hour after hour, she learns to understand the man she married, before she loses his trust and his heart?

You know what that means..... marriage of convenience!!!!! I love that premise, and I am really anticipating reading Joana's take on it.

    1. Funnily enough I agreed to read this without knowing the premise, Linda, because I knew if it was by Joana, I wanted to read it.

    2. Thanks, Linda!!! So kind of you to say so, much appreciated!! I was actually thinking of you and of 'A Will of Iron' when I was talking to someone about an almond mousse that features in the story. Cyanide is supposed to smell like almonds, isn't it? :D (No worries, I'm not poisoning anyone in MBDD, that was your Lady Cat's prerogative, but your most excellent story sprang to mind and I can't wait to re-read it and better still keep my fingers crossed for another treat from you, with or without almonds ;) ). Thanks for all your support!!

  12. If Christina says that this is Joana's best yet, then I'm inclined to believe her, given her background in editing. Which means we're in for a proper treat. I'm tingling all over in anticipation!

  13. Here I am in this conga line of a cover reveal party, at blog #2 of my trip around them. I saw Janet's first, and it led me over here. I conga with the best of gentlemen, you know, and Ceri can even give witness to my Freestyle Disco prowess! JK, but seriously. Joana Starnes book is already a sort of a feeding frenzy situation for me. They are so much more complex and interesting than most of the JAFF out there these days. But a Joana Starnes FMS? Howly whacked out crazy tomatoes! I'm in like fake icing in a Swiss Roll!

So looking forward to another excellent read by Joana! A marriage of convenience certainly puts them in a more intimate setting in which they must face each other and themselves. As I have previously stated, the cover is exquisite.

    2. I'm so happy that you love the cover, Carole, and thanks for the kind words :)

Oh, yes, I think that's the major attraction of such scenarios: that we don't have to wait until the characters are brought together by a ball, a walk, on some other fortunate occasion. They're there together the entire time, in the intimate setting that you mentioned, and they have to find a way of understanding each other and themselves.

Thanks for stopping by for the cover reveal!

    3. Hi Carole! I love this kind of scenario as there is likely to be a lot of page time together but the flip side of that is the potential for angst and uncomfortable situations. I'm looking forward to reading it though :)
